Winged Sleep

Here is Winged Sleep, a small feathered muse to bring you dreams. I wonder whether she haunted bed-chambers in Venice — something makes me think so. She’s adorned with three golden poppies. Her grey feathers and down make not a sound in the night when she visits.

She is sculpted in Japanese air-dry clay, with mulberry paper. Her dream-dark eyes are inset onyx. She is tinted with acrylics, and edged with glints of iridescent gold. Her bones are stainless steel wire with brass rods. The whole piece stands about 12 and 3/8” tall.
